Upcoming Events and News related to Lake Ida, Douglas County, Minnesota

The Spring Annual meeting is coming up on Saturday May 27, 2017 at 9 AM. The latest updates with regard to lake Ida will be presented. A copy of the ILA News should be arriving in your mailbox soon. The last page of the newsletter will include a form for the annual Ida Lake Association membership fee. If you can, fill that form before you leave home to speed up the check in process on Saturday morning.
The Fall 2016 annual meeting took place on August 26, 2016 at 9 AM. A report of Big Ole Sup-athon (paddle board) parade will be crossing the lake on July 8 from the north inlet to the south outlet. The lake accesses continue to be monitored by the county (300 hrs) plus another 300 hrs with ILA funding. Curly-leaf Pondweed was conquered in a District 1 area, but it has now reappeared in another (2.2 acres) area in Districts 1 & 2.
We had an excellent Membership meeting on May 25, 2013. Steve Henry lead a discussion on ways to improve water quality in Lake Ida. Several attendees volunteered to help with this project. Boat Parade on July 4th will go through the North end of the lake. Details will be posted here as they are announced. Meantime, Jack Petrillo is happy that two of his neighboors have volunteered to serve as co-directors in District 7, Richard and Suzanne Sudmeier. Welcome aboard!
New directors were elected at the ILA general meeting on August 25, 2012. Janet Vandendriessche, Wayne Orn and Greg Nolan were elected/selected/appointed as Director in Districts 2, 5 and 14 respectively. Jim Peterson was re-elected as Treasurer and Jeff Johnson was elected as Vice President. All officers serve two-year terms. Congratulations to all new and returning officers of the Ida Lake Association.
New directors appointed in Districts 8 and 13. Dorothy Shinn has joined Bud Nielsen as directors in District 8. Paul Lombard replaces George Marthaler in District 13. Paul Moquist recently assumed the position of Director in District 9. Welcome to these new directors.
Boat Parade on the 4th of July 2012 was a great success, about 35 units participated. First place went to the Dorsey family in District 2, Second place went to Monica Oberle in District 12 and Third place went to the Anderson/Willeford boat. Watermelon and orange drink were consumed. Boat Parade on the 4th of July 2011 was a great success, about 50 units participated. First place went to the Alvin Braun family whose boat was decorated by the grandchildren - Congratulations! A Second place was also awarded.
